Are driverless trucks actually hauling freight right now?

Aurora has been running commercial driverless freight on Interstate 45 between Dallas and Houston since April 2025, and it reports more than 250,000 driverless miles with zero crashes attributed to its system. Do autonomous trucks have to follow FMCSA rules?
